Coming.Apart. : Book Launch Party

Norwegian writer EDY POPPY is returning to New York to celebrate the launch of the short story collection Coming.Apart., her second book in English translation. Many moons ago, NOoSPHERE Arts hosted two readings by Poppy in our original location on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. In this month marking our 15th anniversary, we are pleased to invite her back for this book launch party in our current indoor-outdoor home in Greenpoint, Brooklyn..

We will open our doors at 6:30pm, and guests are encouraged to make their way up to our one-of-a-kind wildflower roofs to enjoy the sunset. Starting 7:30pm, the program downstairs features a live reading by Poppy, followed by a Q&A with local NYC writer, LEILA SEGAL.

After the discussion, there will be LIVE MUSIC by international and local performers -- to be announced shortly! Join us to watch, listen, talk, dance, drink, and celebrate our literary and musical mega stars!

With three provocative and critically acclaimed books to her name, it’s easy to see why Edy Poppy has become one of Norway’s most exciting young writers, and a standout voice in Scandinavian literature. Edy Poppy’s last visit to New York saw her interviewed by the inimitable Siri Hustvedt, a transcript of which is available to read on LitHub, or to watch on YouTube. Hustvedt hailed Poppy’s work as “a devilish hybrid. Part autofiction, part literary, cinematic, and musical dance of allusions.” Chris Kraus (author of I Love Dick) succinctly praised it as “Fantastic!”

With the stark, poetic voice that garnered her debut novel, Anatomy. Monotony., cult status in Norway and abroad, the writer/performance artist offers a vision of sexuality and alienation unlike any other. Her stories explore moments of labyrinthine intimacy with a cold intensity that proves impossible to forget.
