Join us on the rooftop at NOoSPHERE Arts three Sundays in August for Xenoperspectives, a film series interested in other forms of ecological consciousness. How does attempting to see from a nonhuman viewpoint change how we inhabit science, spirituality, and time? Is it possible to see through other eyes, or perceive in different ways entirely? Through these narrative and experimental feature length and short films, we engage with otherness, both our world’s and our own.
Rooftop opens at 7:30 pm for sunset. Please arrive by 8:30 pm as films will start at dusk or 9 pm. Attendees are welcome to BYOB, food, picnic blankets, etc. Please be advised that lawn chairs are not allowed, but we will have seating for the first 30+ attendees.

Upcoming:

Dwelling: A Measure of Life in the Atlanta Forest (2023, Sasha Tycko, 40 min.) follows one Atlanta forest defender's quixotic attempt to build a hut by hand in the forest occupation at the center of the fight against Cop City. By patiently following the building process over several months, the observational film explores how the utopian spirit of the movement meets the practical challenges of living in the forest. As a militant struggle unfolds offscreen, the film contemplates the nature of work, technology, and making a home.
Last Things (2023), directed by Deborah Stratman, is an experimental film that looks at evolution and extinction from the perspective of the rocks and minerals that came before humanity and will outlast us. With scientists and thinkers like Lynn Margulis and Marcia Bjørnerud as guides and quoting from the proto-Sci-fi texts of J.H. Rosny, Deborah Stratman offers a stunning array of images, from microscopic forms to vast landscapes, and seeks a picture of evolution without humans at the center.
